Can you start an infection?

Each run gives you one of five pathogens. Answer a random question before each stage, then try to move through all three defence zones. In Stage 1, watch for sticky mucus that slows movement and cilia along the skin walls that sweep you upward while you brush against the barrier.

Scoring
+100 correct question · −25 incorrect answer · +150 for clearing each line · +300 for reaching the end · plus a speed bonus.
Underlined science words show a quick definition when you hover or focus on them. Stage 3 also shows B cells, matching antibodies and faster immune-memory responses.
Move with Arrow keys / WASD or the touch pad. Answer the random question, then choose Play Stage. Stage 1 must be crossed within 12 seconds. Mucus slows you down, cilia along the skin walls sweep you upward while you brush against the barrier, inflammation recruits phagocytes, and B cells release matching antibodies in Stage 3. Phagocytes are white blood cells.
1st line · Barrier defencesSkin helps block entry, mucus slows movement in the game, and cilia along the lining sweep pathogens upward while they contact the skin.
2nd line · Non-specific defencePhagocytes are white blood cells. Along with inflammation, they help the body respond quickly to many different pathogens, and phagocytes can engulf pathogens by phagocytosis.
3rd line · Specific defenceB cells produce antibodies that bind to matching antigens. Repeat encounters can trigger faster immune-memory responses.
